Court Grants Bail to 70-Year-Old Man Accused of Vandalising State Project

A Magistrate Court in Bolade, Oshodi area of Lagos State has granted bail to a 70-year-old Kayode Otitoju, who is facing a two-count charge of allegedly vandalising a state government fence construction project along the canal setback in Lekki Phase 1.

The Lagos State Government disclosed this in a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday.

Otitoju, who was arrested on Sunday, pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment.

His legal counsel, Oluwaseun Ettu, appealed to the court for bail on compassionate grounds, considering his age.

The court granted bail under the following conditions, a bond of ₦200,000, one surety, submission of a three-year tax clearance certificate, and verification of the surety’s residential address.

The case has been adjourned to July 25, 2025, for the commencement of the trial.
