The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, February 27, 2026, granted bail to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, in the sum of ₦200 million each over alleged terrorism financing offences.
Ruling on their bail application, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered each defendant to produce two sureties in like sum.
One surety must present the title deed of a developed property in either Asokoro or Maitama within the Federal Capital Territory, subject to verification by the court.
The defendants were also directed to deposit their international passports.
Malami and his son were arraigned on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, on a five-count charge filed by the Department of State Services.

The counts include alleged abetment of terrorism financing under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Prosecutors allege that Malami, while serving as AGF, failed to act on case files involving suspected terrorism financiers, an omission the state contends amounts to abetment.
The charge sheet also accuses the defendants of possessing a firearm without a valid licence at a residence in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Both men pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The case is separate from an ongoing money laundering prosecution instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission involving Malami, his wife and his son, in which they have also pleaded not guilty.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, March 4, 2026, for further proceedings.
