The Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail earlier granted to African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, after he failed to appear for the continuation of his trial.
The decision was handed down on Tuesday by Justice Mohammed Umar, who ruled that the defendant’s absence from court warranted the withdrawal of his bail.
During the proceedings, prosecution counsel Kehinde Akinlolu informed the court that Sowore was aware of the scheduled hearing but failed to attend.
Akinlolu subsequently urged the court to revoke the defendant’s bail, arguing that his absence was unjustified and alleging that he had consistently taken steps that delayed the progress of the trial.
In his ruling, Justice Umar observed that Sowore had written to the court seeking an adjournment of the matter. However, the judge noted that the letter failed to state any reason for the request.

The court held that the application lacked sufficient justification and proceeded to revoke the bail previously granted to the AAC chieftain.
Following the ruling, Justice Umar adjourned the case until June 22 for further hearing.
The development marks a fresh twist in the ongoing legal proceedings involving Sowore, who is currently standing trial in a matter before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
