Hundreds of men, women, and youths in Rivers State on Friday stormed the gate of Government House, Port Harcourt, in a massive show of solidarity for Governor Siminialayi Fubara.
The supporters, who began arriving as early as 6 a.m., gathered along the Azikiwe–Old Port Harcourt Township Road, effectively shutting down traffic and creating gridlock across the busy route.
What began as a political gathering soon turned into a carnival-like display, with songs, chants, and banners hailing the governor’s return to office.
Leading the show of support were prominent loyalists of the governor, including Darlington Orji, Sokare Goodboy, and Ezebunwo Ichemati, among others, who mobilised followers to the venue.

Residents described the scene as both celebratory and disruptive, noting that while the colourful demonstrations underscored the governor’s popularity, the resulting traffic congestion also highlighted the impact of political rallies on daily life in the capital.
The show of solidarity comes amid heightened political activities in the state, with Governor Fubara continuing to receive backing from supporters across different constituencies.
