Civil society organisations in Rivers State have praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for what they described as purposeful and forward-thinking leadership in boosting small and medium-scale enterprises through the Rivers State Microfinance Agency (RIMA).
In a joint statement, the groups said RIMA has emerged as a major catalyst for inclusive economic development, pointing to the agency’s impressive performance in 2025 as evidence of the administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment.
They revealed that between 2024 and 2025, the agency disbursed a cumulative ₦2.346 billion to approximately 3,000 beneficiaries across the state.
According to the CSOs, the feat was made possible by an efficient loan recovery and recycling framework introduced under the Fubara-led government, ensuring sustainability and wider access to funding.

The organisations also commended members of the Rivers business community for voluntarily repaying ₦991 million so far, describing the move as a strong signal of accountability and growing confidence in government-supported empowerment programmes.
They added that the high repayment rate reflects trust in the state’s economic policies and urged the government to sustain the initiative to further strengthen entrepreneurship and job creation in Rivers State.
