The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday temporarily suspended the first quarter of the ongoing nationwide continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Bayelsa State.
The suspension of the exercise was contained in a press statement signed by INEC’S Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Mr. Wilfred Ifogah.
The statement said “in line with the approved timeline and schedule of activities for the first quarter, the exercise will be temporarily suspended from 21st of September to 3rd of October 2021”.
It further stated that within the period, there will be display of claims, objections and other necessary housekeeping in preparation for the next quarter, adding that the second quarter of the CVR exercise will commence from 4th of October until 20th of December 2021.
The statement assured Bayelsans that the Commission will not deny any eligible voter in the state the right to register, and urged those who are yet to do so to take advantage of the opportunity when it resumes.
INEC, had on June 28 this year, announced the resumption of the online Continuous Voter Registration, through it’s registration portal https://cvr.inecnigeria.org, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Commission a month later, kicked off the schedule of appointments for online registrants and physical CVR, at INEC state and local government offices nationwide.
