Dangote Hosts NNPC Chief At Refinery, Signals Industry Collaboration

President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, on Saturday hosted the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Bayo Ojulari, alongside other top executives at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

The high-level visit, which took place on February 21, 2026, underscores ongoing engagements between key stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector as efforts continue to strengthen domestic refining capacity and energy security.

Though details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, the meeting is seen as significant given the strategic importance of the Dangote Refinery — widely regarded as Africa’s largest single-train refinery — to Nigeria’s fuel supply chain and broader industrial ambitions.

Industry observers note that collaboration between NNPC and private sector players remains critical to stabilising petroleum product availability, reducing import dependence, and supporting the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda.

The refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, represents a landmark private investment in Nigeria’s energy sector and has been positioned as a transformative project expected to boost local refining, create jobs and conserve foreign exchange.

Saturday’s engagement between Dangote and Ojulari reflects continued dialogue at the highest levels of the industry, signalling a shared commitment to strengthening operational synergies and enhancing Nigeria’s refining ecosystem.

Stakeholders will be watching closely for potential outcomes of the meeting, particularly in areas of crude supply arrangements, production optimisation and long-term sectoral reforms.
