Dangote, NNPCL Strengthen Partnership With Expanded Gas Agreement

Dangote Industries Limited and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have sealed a gas supply agreement to guarantee sustained and reliable gas supply for major Dangote industrial operations nationwide.

The agreement was finalised in Abuja on Sunday, February 1, 2026, during events marking the unveiling of Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan 2026 at the NNPC Towers.

Under the deal, three Dangote subsidiaries; Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Dangote Fertiliser Plant and Dangote Cement Plc expanded their existing Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements with NNPCL subsidiaries, including Nigerian Gas Marketing Limited and NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited.

The expanded arrangements are intended to support Dangote Group’s ongoing operations and future expansion by securing long-term gas supply for refining, fertiliser production and cement manufacturing.

Gas plays a critical role in the group’s industrial processes, particularly as it increases capacity and improves efficiency across its facilities.

The agreement also aligns with Nigeria’s broader strategy to deepen domestic gas utilisation, promote cleaner energy for industrial use and strengthen gas infrastructure as part of the country’s energy transition agenda.

Both parties described the deal as a strategic step toward strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors, boosting industrial productivity and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and energy security goals.

The gas supply agreement is expected to enhance operational stability at Dangote’s industrial facilities and reinforce the role of natural gas as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial development.
