Nigerian music star Davido has publicly addressed a comment made by Nollywood actress Sarah Martins regarding his recent restaurant-themed promotional campaign, sparking social media buzz over the weekend.
Martins had taken to her Instagram page on Monday to suggest that Davido’s newly unveiled restaurant collaboration should have been named after his wife, Chioma Rowland, citing her culinary talent and long-standing passion for cooking.
Sharing a photo of Chioma, Martins wrote: “This is coming from a place of love because I am a huge fan of OBO. I honestly feel Davido’s restaurant should have been opened for Chioma or probably in her name because we’ve always known her to be a passionate fantastic chef…”
The actress further clarified that her statement was not made out of spite, expressing admiration for the couple and suggesting a name like “5ive Star Restaurant by Chef Chi” would have been ideal, complementing Davido’s “5ive Star” album campaign.
However, the comment did not sit well with the singer. In a direct response in her comment section, Davido sharply refuted the claim and expressed disapproval over the use of Chioma’s image.

He wrote: “U no get sense… no restaurant was opened. That was a promotional campaign with @foodcourt_app for my album. Now take my wife’s picture off page.”
Davido’s swift and stern reaction has since sparked debate online, with fans weighing in on the propriety of Martins’ suggestion and the boundaries of celebrity commentary.
The original campaign, as clarified by Davido, was not the launch of a standalone restaurant but a collaborative promotion tied to his latest music release through the FoodCourt platform.
