Nigerian music star Davido has publicly announced that he is withdrawing his child custody case, in a series of emotional posts shared via his Instagram Story on Friday.
In the posts, the award-winning artist clarified that he never sought full custody of his daughter, but rather joint custody. He said there was “nothing to celebrate” regarding the court proceedings and that neither party truly “won” the case.
“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody,” he wrote, adding: “Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some people are celebrating.”
Davido also cited a specific moment in the courtroom that influenced his decision, saying he felt a lawyer involved in the matter used the death of his late son as “a lowest blow,” a tactic he said was deeply hurtful and crossed personal boundaries. He described the experience as frustrating and emotional, ultimately prompting him to drop the case.
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on,” he wrote, signing off with a heart and prayer emojis.
In another Story, he addressed the lawyer by name, accusing them of unprofessional conduct during the court session and expressing frustration over personal comments made in the legal context.

Davido’s decision appears to mark the end of a chapter in his personal life that has drawn significant public attention, with fans and followers reacting to his candid remarks on social media.
