Defecting Govs Will Regret After 2027 Election Results — PDP Spokesman

The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, has said governors who defected from the PDP will be reminded by the 2027 election results that abandoning principles for convenience comes at a cost.

Ememobong spoke on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he addressed the wave of defections from the opposition party and the internal crisis that defectors often cite as justification.

When asked whether the eight governors who defected to the APC had made grave mistakes, Ememobong answered in the affirmative.

He said, “Absolutely. And I’m sure that in 2027 when the results come, they will have regrets as a permanent reminder to the fact that principle is good for people to hold on to”.

Also, he admitted the PDP has challenges but argued that many of those leaving were part of the leadership that presided over the same problems they now complain about.

“For elections, we acknowledge the fact that there are problems in the PDP, and we are not not being irresponsible about that.

“We are saying to them that the problems in the PDP will concern human beings, and they were leaders of the party at the time when these problems were there.

“So when you’re pointing accusing fingers at the PDP, you are simply having four fingers pointing back at you to say, what did you do when this crisis was there? Because human beings created the crisis.

“So when they say that there’s a problem in it means that they are also the problem and we know that they are also exporting this problem to wherever they are going to, so it’s a matter of convenience,” he said.
