Defence Minister Hosts Newly Appointed Service Chiefs, Pledges Stronger Military Collaboration

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday, welcomed the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs during their first official courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.

Those present at the meeting included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.

In a statement issued by the Minister’s office, the visit was described as a demonstration of the Defence Minister’s resolve to foster unity and cooperation within the leadership of the Armed Forces.

“The visit underscores the Minister’s commitment to building a cohesive defence leadership anchored on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose,” the statement read.

It further noted that the engagement marks the beginning of a renewed focus on developing a unified strategy and taking decisive actions to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national interests.

The statement added that the Ministry’s efforts will continue under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in advancing the nation’s defence and security objectives.
