The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mr. Ese Idisi, has been killed by unknown assailants, the Delta State Police confirmed on Monday.

The killing occurred on Saturday at Okpara Waterside community in Ethiope East, according to SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command. He said police are currently investigating the incident.

The Delta State APC expressed shock and described Idisi’s death as a “brutal and condemnable killing.” In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party called on security agencies to conduct a thorough, uncompromising, and professional investigation.

“The perpetrators, sponsors, and anyone connected to this heinous act must be identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay,” the party said. It commiserated with Idisi’s family, noting that his passing left a “painful void” in both his community and within the APC family in Ethiope East Ward 4.

Idisi was described as a loyal and committed party official who contributed significantly to the growth of the APC in the area. The party rejected claims that his murder had political motives or internal party undertones, warning that such assertions were false, reckless, and capable of inflaming tensions.

“It is deeply disappointing that unfounded claims of this nature are being promoted while the family is in mourning and security agencies are still conducting investigations,” the statement added.

The Delta State Police have appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow the ongoing investigation to take its course.
