Delta Police Nab 11 Suspected Cultists, Armed Robbers

Operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) of the Delta State Police Command have dismantled a cult killing network linked to recent violent clashes in Ughelli town, the command announced on Wednesday.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts to curb cult-related violence in Delta State, following recent clashes and killings in Ughelli and other communities. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, had directed an intensified, intelligence-led manhunt for cultists and other violent criminals across the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the CP-SAT operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson, initially arrested two suspects based on credible intelligence. The suspects made confessional statements and provided actionable information, which led to a coordinated operation across Ughelli metropolis and the arrest of six additional suspects.

The arrested suspects include Richard William, 28, of Uwheru Community; Onorode Pius, 27, of Otor-Udu Community, Udu LGA; Sunday Jakpor, 20, of Orhunwhun Community, Udu LGA; Victory Ogbemudia, 25, of Oleh Community, Isoko South LGA; Raymond Arhiakpore, 39, of Agbara Community; and Precious Wanogho, 34, of Orogun Community, all in Delta State.

A locally made gun and four live cartridges were recovered from the initial suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and admitted involvement in the killing of Alex Adanike, 37, on January 15, 2026, at Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli North LGA.

In a separate operation on January 26, CP-SAT operatives arrested three suspects at a suspected criminal hideout in Irapa, Sapele. The suspects—Kome Temienoro, 25, of Jesse Community; Ogaga Omogene, 17, of Ugbuwe Community; and Biokoro Francis, 42, of Okogborode Community—were found with a wooden-carved pistol, a battle axe, a bulletproof vest, quantities of illicit drugs, and a white Toyota Venza suspected to have been used in criminal activities.

CP Aina Adesola assured residents that the Delta State Police Command remains committed to eradicating cultism and other violent crimes, urging the public to provide timely and credible information with guaranteed confidentiality.

The command also recently arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as Gare, for allegedly killing his friend, Courage, over a dispute linked to internet fraud activities. SP Edafe described the incident as a tragic and avoidable outcome driven by anger, substance abuse, and criminal behavior.
