Desmond Elliot Apologises To Gbajabiamila Over Political Dispute

Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, has publicly apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, saying any disagreement between them during past political developments was unintentional.

Elliot made the apology on Friday, May 15, during an interview on TVC’s Your View, where he stressed that he holds no ill feelings and remains committed to party unity and constituency development.

His comments come in the wake of earlier tensions linked to the leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly, during which Gbajabiamila disclosed that he was nearly affected at the Presidency following allegations tied to Elliot’s alleged role in the speakership tussle.

Gbajabiamila had also said President Bola Tinubu confronted him over intelligence reports, a claim he rejected.

Speaking on the programme, Elliot said his political growth was shaped under Gbajabiamila’s mentorship, describing him as an elder brother figure in his journey.

“I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” he said.

He noted that misunderstandings are part of human interactions, adding that reconciliation was necessary.

“To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way,” he said.

Elliot also extended an apology to a senior female figure he referred to as the “matriarch of Surulere,” saying he regretted any offence caused.

“To the matriarch of Surulere, mama, I’m sorry if I’ve offended you,” he said.

Despite the apology, he maintained that his attention remains on strengthening his party and fulfilling his responsibilities to his constituents.

“But I will keep keeping the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place,” he added.
