Diri poised to complete all abandoned roads

Bayelsa State Government has reiterated the commitment of the Douye Diri administration to complete all road projects abandoned in the state.Commissioner for Works and infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, stated this yesterday during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects across thee state.

Teibowei, who went on the project inspection tour alongside his Ministry of Information countersrt, Ayibaina Duba, asserted that the state government had mobilised contractors to many sites.

Some of the sites where work has commenced included the Tombia-Etegwe roundabout expansion, the failed portion of Opokuma road, the Yenagoa-Oporoma expressway, maintenance work at the Alamieyeseigha road and other internal roads in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Speaking on the Tombia roundabout expansion, the works commisioner, said as part of the efforts to build a city worthy of emulation, the state government decided to take over the notorious roundabout and beautify the place.He said: “We mobilized various contractors to various sites recently.

Some of the mobilised contractors have commenced work.”At Tombia  roundabout which is being handled by the ministry, the Commissioners’ quarters, you can see that work is going on.

The same thing applies to the failed portion of the Opokuma road and other places.”Also speaking,  the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Ayibaina Duba, said the Bayelsa Central Senatorial road is on course and would hit Aguobiri and advance to Angiama in Southern Ijaw.

 He said Governor Douye Diri is committed to connect all the three senatorial roads to the city centrefor the overall prosperity of all the Bayelsans.
