Diri: We Are Building a New Yenagoa

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Yenagoa into a modern city through massive urbanization projects.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, March 5, Governor Diri highlighted the progress of the New Yenagoa City project, emphasizing that infrastructure development in the state capital was beginning to yield positive results.

As part of activities marking his administration’s fifth anniversary, Diri hosted the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to inaugurate two major projects: a new Commissioners’ Quarters and a 2.1km dualized road within the New Yenagoa City.

Diri expressed delight at the enthusiasm of Bayelsans regarding the infrastructural transformation, stating that his government is laying a solid foundation for a capital city that can compete with other major cities across Nigeria.

“Our administration is building legacy projects to change the face of the state capital,” he said.

He also appreciated Governor Fintiri for honoring the state’s invitation to commission the projects, describing the occasion as a significant step in the government’s urbanization drive.

The New Yenagoa City project is part of the Prosperity Administration’s broader vision to improve road networks, housing, and public facilities, with a long-term goal of making Yenagoa a hub for business, tourism, and social activities.
