The arrest of alleged Fulani Kidnap kingpin, Iskilu Wakili and three others for allegedly terrorising Igboora and other adjoining communities in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Sunday, has taken another twist with the arrest of four members of Oodua Peoples Congress who apprehended the alleged criminals.
The State Coordinator of OPC, Rotimi Oluomo, who confirmed the arrest of Wakili, said his men who spearheaded the successful operation that led to the arrest of Wakili and three others are cooling their feet at the Force Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Oluomo stated that his men launched a manhunt that eventually resulted in the arrest of the suspected kidnappers after their failed attempt to kidnap the daughter of one of his members precisely two weeks ago.
The suspected kidnappers, according to him, engaged men of the OPC in a shootout which lasted for several hours at their hideout in Igboora.
It was stated that during the shoot out three members of the gang were nabbed while an attempt to arrest Wakili proved abortive.
The coordinator stated further that his men, who were not relented in their efforts, eventually arrested Wakili early hours of Sunday.
Oluomo disclosed that sophisticated weapons including pump action gun and other forms of riffles were recovered during the arrest.
He said the suspects have been handed over to the police authority for prosecution.
But the police authority, it was learnt turned around and arrested the OPC.
The OPC coordinator confirming the arrest of his men in a telephone interview said that the reason behind their arrest was yet to be made known by the police.
