Flight operations are gradually resuming at Dubai International Airport after authorities temporarily suspended services following a drone-related incident that caused a fire within the airport vicinity.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, which confirmed that a phased restoration of flights to and from the airport has begun, with services initially limited to selected destinations.
In a statement, the authority explained that the temporary suspension was necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and airport infrastructure after a drone struck a fuel tank near the airport, triggering a fire.
“The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority has announced a gradual resumption of some flights to and from Dubai International Airport to selected destinations, following a temporary suspension,” the statement said.
Emergency responders were quickly deployed to the scene after the incident occurred, and the fire was brought under control.
Authorities then carried out safety checks across the airport facilities before allowing flight operations to resume in phases.
Passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport have been advised to confirm their flight schedules with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
“Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights,” the aviation authority added.
