Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers following the successful rescue of a woman, identified as Jemila Ibrahim, in Edo North.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that the victim was rescued unharmed during a coordinated bush combing operation carried out on May 13 around Okpege River Road in Iyuku Community, Jattu.
According to the statement, Ibrahim had been abducted on May 10 before security operatives intensified search efforts in the area, leading to her rescue.
Police identified the suspects arrested in connection with the abduction as Nura Saminu, 24; Shaibu Isah, 23; Suraj Sabitu, 23; Yajubu Sagiru, 23; and Oseni Abdullahi, 26.
“The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention, while the suspects allegedly responsible for her abduction were successfully arrested,” the statement said.

The police added that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, praised the operatives involved in the operation for their swift response and professionalism.
He also reassured residents of the state that the command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Edo communities.
