The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday defended its immediate past acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu over the allegation that he re-looted assets worth N1.63 trillion recovered from Abdulrasheed Maina-led Pension Reformed Task Team.
According to the EFCC counsel, Mohammed Abubakar, allegations by one Ngozika Ihuoma has no proof.
Ihuoma, who is the first defence witness in the trial of Maina for N2 billion alleged fraud had alleged that the properties which were handed over to EFCC were later sold by Magu.
Ihuoma had said, “Magu admitted before Salami that he shared and allocated most of these properties to most of his friends, associates, colleagues under some presidential directives but failed to make available to the commission the evidence of that presidential directives.”
Meanwhile, the new Chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Friday, said the agency would create an intelligence directorate to steer it towards a proactive and intelligence-led investigation.
