The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Victor Ekpong Thompson in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, over allegations that he defrauded American investors of $525,276 through a fake investment scheme.

Thompson was arraigned on Thursday, January 29, 2026, to face eight counts of obtaining money by false pretence, linked to promised investments in mineral resources and a deep-sea port project that never existed.

The EFCC confirmed the arraignment on Monday, February 2, 2026, via its official X handle, highlighting the agency’s ongoing crackdown on cross-border investment fraud.

Courts documents show Thompson allegedly induced several American victims, including Tammy Jensen, Peter Jensen and Kenneth Blad, to transfer funds under false promises, with one count involving $213,350.
