Ekiti Approves N458.8m Severance for Ex-LG Political Office Holders

The Ekiti State Government has approved the payment of N458.8 million as severance benefits for former political office holders at the local government level in the state.

The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr Folorunso Olabode, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.

According to him, the approved sum of N458,793,960 is for political office holders who served across the 16 local government areas of the state between 2022 and 2023.

Olabode said the beneficiaries include vice chairmen, secretaries, councillors, supervisors and advisers who served during the period under review.

“The Ekiti State Government has approved the sum of N458,793,960 as severance benefits for local government political office holders in the state,” the commissioner said.

He added that the payment was in line with government obligations to former council officials who had completed their tenures.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) has announced that local government elections will hold across the state on December 12, 2026.
