Ekiti Police Detain Three Officers Over Viral Biker Extortion Video

The Ekiti State Police Command has detained three officers over allegations of extortion and intimidation after a video of a biker’s encounter with a patrol team went viral.

The command said the action followed a complaint filed on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, by the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) chapter of the Biker Association at the Ilupeju Police Division.

The biker was reportedly travelling from Itapa to Ikole-Ekiti when he was stopped by the patrol team. According to the police, he was allegedly subjected to an improper demand for N20,000 during the encounter.

Police spokesman, SP Abutu Sunday, said the officers linked to the incident had been identified and detained for questioning as investigations continue.
