The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), Prof. Babatunde Omojola, has highlighted the crucial role of traditional rulers in shaping societal values and guiding the younger generation.
Omojola made the remarks on Saturday while leading the university management team on a visit to the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe.
The visit aimed to seek the monarch’s blessings for the continued growth and development of the university, as well as to solicit support in promoting peace and harmony across Ekiti State.
“Individuals or organisations that aspire to succeed in their endeavours must not overlook the prayers, guidance and wise counsel of traditional rulers,” Omojola said.
He added that BOUESTI would continue to pursue meaningful partnerships with royal fathers across the state to foster peace, stability, and sustainable development within the university community and beyond.
Describing traditional rulers as custodians of culture, tradition, and moral values, the VC noted that their role in maintaining societal peace and stability cannot be overemphasised.
He said collaboration between universities and traditional institutions has become increasingly important as higher education institutions are expected to contribute meaningfully to societal development.

In response, Oba Adejugbe commended the BOUESTI management for the visit, offered prayers for the institution’s continued progress, and assured the university of the traditional institution’s support in promoting educational advancement, peace, and stability in the state.
He urged the university to remain steadfast in its vision of building a reputable institution that would significantly contribute to educational development in Ekiti State and the country.
