Ekiti Woman Receives ₦1 Million Reward After Rejecting Vote-Buying Offer

Popular businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has rewarded an Ekiti woman with ₦1 million after she allegedly rejected a ₦15,000 vote-buying offer during the state’s recent governorship election.

The woman gained widespread attention on social media after a video surfaced showing her explaining why she turned down the money despite facing financial challenges.

In the viral clip, she stated that she chose to protect her conscience rather than exchange her vote for cash.

“My vote and conscience are not for sale,” she said.

Reacting to the video, Fayose praised her decision and announced a cash reward in recognition of what he described as an act of integrity.

Fayose described the woman as a symbol of honesty and courage, saying her action demonstrated that Nigerians can resist electoral inducement and contribute to strengthening democracy.

According to him, the reward was intended to encourage others to remain principled and reject vote-buying regardless of financial pressure.

The gesture has since generated reactions online, with many Nigerians commending the woman for standing by her principles and praising Fayose for recognising what they described as an exemplary act of civic responsibility.
