Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said he is fully prepared for elections to be conducted at any time, declaring that he has no reservations about the proposed amendment to the Electoral Act.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso reacted to the National Assembly’s proposal to change the timing of presidential and governorship elections to six months before the end of incumbents’ tenure.
He said, “As for me, I have no issue. If they are ready, let them come out tomorrow, we will come out too. I have no problem with that.
“Whether it is November or February, let the election hold anytime. All we need is some notice so we can inform and mobilise our people.”
Kwankwaso added that his confidence stemmed from the NNPP’s rising popularity, especially among young Nigerians who he said have become more politically aware since the last general election.

“The truth is, the youths have become more aware,” he said. “Those who think they will defeat us or vote us out will be surprised.”
He stressed that the NNPP, despite being a relatively young political party, had made remarkable progress nationwide and was better prepared for future elections.
Kwankwaso also dismissed claims of internal crisis within the NNPP, saying those spreading such rumours were not genuine politicians.
“There is no crisis in our party, the NNPP. They have taken us to court over a thousand times but have not succeeded. Up till now, they are still using the old logo.
“So, it is like members of the APC suddenly claiming to belong to ACN or CPC. How can that be? Check the INEC portal and see for yourself who is recognised. They are not real politicians,” he said.
