Legal representatives of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele have dismissed any connection between him and the properties recently seized by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
In a statement signed by Olawale Fapohunda, Esq., on Friday, February 21, the legal team clarified that the assets, allegedly associated with Anita Joy Omoile and her businesses, including DeepBlue Energy Limited, do not belong to Emefiele or any of his immediate relatives.
“To set the record straight, we completely distance our client from any claim of ownership regarding these properties,” the statement read. “Neither he nor any member of his family has any stake in them.”

The lawyers explained that DeepBlue Energy Limited, which was registered in 2009, is owned by a relative of Emefiele but has no direct affiliation with him.
They further highlighted that while Justice Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi had issued a final forfeiture order on the assets, Justice Aneke of the same court had previously lifted an interim forfeiture order on the same properties.
Urging the public to disregard misleading reports, Emefiele’s legal team insisted that associating him with the forfeited properties was inaccurate.
This development adds to the legal troubles facing the former CBN governor, who remains under scrutiny over multiple allegations.
