The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called for increased empowerment of women across Nigeria, saying it would strengthen society and place the nation in safer hands.
Dr Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, made the remarks on Friday at the 2026 Anambra Women Summit organised by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the party’s regional office in Awka. The summit was held under the theme, “Empower Her, Elevate All.”
She emphasised that empowerment begins with self-realisation and self-motivation, urging women to acquire skills and engage in productive ventures rather than relying solely on external support. She also highlighted women’s trustworthiness and capability, noting that anything entrusted to a woman is handled with care and responsibility.
“What we have come here to do today is to celebrate women. Women, as I always say, are unique beings — very intelligent, strong, hardworking, truthful and positive. A happy wife is a happy home. When we empower women, we empower society,” Dr Soludo said.
She further encouraged women to remain active in community development, revive communal values, and prioritise their health through proper nutrition, exercise, and mental wellbeing. She highlighted economic, educational, health, and social empowerment as key areas of focus and presented cash support and empowerment materials to some participants.
