#EndSARS violence: Level of Lagos’ destruction unprecedented, I’m traumatised, says Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, said that the level of destruction inflicted on the state by hoodlums in the wake of the #EndSARS protests is unprecedented.

Sanwo-Olu expressed regret that the gory sight of Lagos he saw during his assessment tour of the state on Friday was not that of the same prosperous state handed over to him by his predecessor in office.

The governor spoke after a tour of some of the scenes of destruction of public and private properties and businesses across the state by hoodlums.

He said that the state had at no time witnessed such a colossal destruction since its existence, adding that no fewer than 120 BRT buses were among the public properties burnt and destroyed by the hoodlums.

The governor said, “What we have seen is a highest level of wanton destruction, a destruction like a war zone. I’m indeed very traumatised now.

“I was moved to tears when I saw the oldest court in Nigeria, if not in Africa brought down. This is not the Lagos handed over to me.”

Sanwo-Olu, however, laid emphasis on the importance of recovery, saying the society needs to heal.

He assured Lagosians that the cleaning up of the entire state would begin on Friday night.
