Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to colleague Laide Bakare after her reaction to Bakare’s name during a podcast interview sparked online backlash, expressing a desire to settle their differences.
Badmus posted the apology on Instagram on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, days after a clip from her appearance on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast went viral.
During the interview, the host named Bakare as one of his favourite actresses, prompting Badmus to hiss and change her facial expression.
Acknowledging the controversy, Badmus admitted that her response could have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.

She added, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”
Badmus urged both parties to move beyond past disagreements, writing, “Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward.”
She ended her message with “Joo maa binu,” meaning “Please, don’t be offended,” and called for peace and an end to grudges.
The apology followed Bakare’s criticism of Badmus on Monday, October 19, when she accused her colleague of damaging her reputation and described her as ungrateful, claiming she had contributed to Badmus’s career.
The latest dispute recalls a confrontation between the actresses at the April 2025 premiere of Owambe Thieves in Lekki, Lagos, which also attracted public attention.
Bakare’s response to the latest apology had not been established at the time of filing this report.
