Manchester City began their title defense with a strong 2-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, securing three points in what was a contentious match.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 18th minute, continuing his prolific form from last season, and former Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic added a second in the 84th minute to seal the win.

The match, however, was not without its controversies. Chelsea’s forward Nicolas Jackson had a goal disallowed, leading to heated discussions both on and off the pitch.

Additionally, there was a moment of contention when Kovacic appeared to handle the ball inside the penalty area. Despite protests from the Chelsea players, the incident was not reviewed, and no penalty was awarded.

Manchester City, despite the controversies, hit the ground running in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive Premier League title, while Chelsea will be left to rue missed opportunities and questionable decisions as they look to bounce back in their next fixture.
