Emeka Etiaba, Tony Nwoye and one other unnamed person, on Saturday, stepped down from the governorship primaries of People’s Democratic Party in Anambra state.
The primaries were to pick a party candidate for governorship polls in the state this November.
The PDP has been ripped into two factions, with two separate leaderships.
Both factions held primaries in two different venues on Saturday.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shai’bu, who is the secretary to the Anambra state PDP Guber primary election committee, shortly after meeting with the aspirants, announced the withdrawal of the aspirants to journalists in Awka.
Shaibu said the aspirants stepped down voluntarily and promised to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party in the November 6 election.
The deputy governor also assured that the party would conduct a credible, free and fair election to the satisfaction of the aspirants so that the losers will support the winner.
He said all the aspirants have agreed to respect the outcome of the primary after meeting with them on Saturday afternoon.
He also said that out of the 230 supper delegates expected at the election less than 200 were accredited.
As of the time of filling this report, the other faction was still conducting their own primary election.
