Ex-commissioner of police dies of COVID-19 in Oyo

SOJI AJIBOLA, IBADAN

 Oyo Police Command has confirmed the death of former Commissioner of Police, Yomi Onashile.

Onashile reportedly died of coronavirus at the state’s Isolation centre, Olodo, Oyo State, at the weekend.

FirstNews gathered that Onashile had been on admission at the COVID-19 Isolation Centre since Sunday, January 24, 2021 before his death occured.

Confirming his death to newsmen, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, said, “We just lost an ex-Commissioner of Police, Yomi Onashile, to the dreaded coronavirus infection.

“The deceased has been on admission at the isolation centre after he tested positive for the virus.

“Sadly, he lost the battle. I pray that God gives his family the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Prior to his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force, Onashile served as the Commissioner of Police in Abia, Oyo, Ekiti and Lagos states.
