Ex-EFCC Chair Magu Urges Schools to Teach Anti-Corruption Studies

Former EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, has urged the government to introduce anti-corruption studies into school curricula, stressing that the fight against corruption is too big for any individual or institution to handle alone.

Magu made the call on Thursday, September 25, during his induction as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies in Abuja.

He explained that teaching children about corruption early would help build a society that clearly understands the dangers it poses.

“I want to appeal to the president and members of the council, we should collaborate. Yesterday, I saw some primary school and secondary school boys around, I thought they were going to be part of us.

“Because there is a need for us to extend down, as it should be included in the curriculum, fighting corruption. Everybody is involved, whether you like it or not,” Magu said.

He emphasised that corruption could not be defeated by one person alone.

“Corruption must be fought across board, everybody. One man cannot fight corruption,” he added.

Magu also highlighted the need for closer collaboration between forensic experts and the judiciary to ensure stronger cases in court.

“Any investigation you want to make, what you are doing or what you are taking before the court must be watertight. You have to bring the forensic aspect,” he explained.
