Nigeria’s Super Falcons are laser-focused as they prepare for their crucial WAFCON 2025 quarter-final clash against Zambia on Friday, with eyes firmly set on a historic 10th continental title, a campaign they’ve proudly named “Vision X.”
The Falcons are drawing inspiration from their emphatic 4-0 victory over Zambia during the 2018 edition of the tournament, a performance that still lives in the hearts of many Nigerian fans.
However, Head Coach Justin Madugu has cautioned against overconfidence, noting that Zambia has evolved into a formidable force.
“This is a new era,” Madugu said during a media briefing on Tuesday. “Zambia has grown, and we respect their progress. But we are Nigeria — we know what’s at stake, and we’re going all out to deliver on Vision X.”
Despite a 0-0 draw against Algeria in their final group game, the Super Falcons remain upbeat. The result didn’t dampen their spirits but served as a wake-up call.
Training sessions since then have been more intense, with players showing sharpness and renewed focus.

Coach Madugu has called on Nigerians at home and abroad to rally behind the team as they chase an unprecedented tenth WAFCON crown.
“We need the energy of our fans. This team is determined to make history, but we can’t do it alone. Stand with us, believe in us,” he urged.
The anticipation is high, and across Nigeria, the rallying cry is clear: Let the Falcons fly again! Supporters are eager to witness the team manifest their greatness once more and bring the trophy home.
With tradition, talent, and tenacity on their side, all eyes now turn to Friday — where Vision X takes flight.
