The Rivers State Government has rejected claims circulating online that the portrait of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was removed from the Government House in Port Harcourt, describing the reports as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, state officials clarified that no such action was taken and that the President’s portrait remains in place at the seat of government, contrary to suggestions making the rounds on social media and some online platforms.
According to the government, there was neither an instruction nor an event that warranted the removal of the President’s image, stressing that the claim was manufactured to create political controversy where none exists.
The state government warned that the spread of false narratives could unnecessarily heighten political tension, urging the public to disregard unverified reports and rely on official communication channels for accurate information.

It reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional order and respect for democratic institutions, noting that political disagreements should not be reduced to symbolic claims capable of misleading the public.
