A grim tragedy unfolded in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday night as unknown assailants violently killed a family of four in their home.
The victims, including three women and an elderly man, were reportedly attacked while asleep and left lifeless in their apartment.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen launched an unprovoked assault on the family, with no clear motive yet established.
The deceased have been identified as members of the family of Ichie Kennedy Igboanugo, a respected elder known as Ichie Akuruoulo 1 of Isseke.
Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that the joint security team, comprising police, military, and other operatives, has secured the area to prevent further violence.

The victims’ bodies were retrieved and taken to the morgue as investigations into the attack continue.
SP Ikenga expressed condolences to the family and community, assuring that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.
“The security team has reinforced presence in the area to maintain peace. We are following up on leads and will provide updates as the investigation progresses,” he said.
This attack adds to the growing security concerns in the region, with authorities calling on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
