A fire outbreak has destroyed part of a cosmetics manufacturing company in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, leaving machinery, raw materials and other assets worth several millions of naira damaged.
The blaze occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Emos Best Industries Ltd. No casualty was recorded as firefighters from the Anambra State Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to other sections of the facility.
The fire damaged production machines, testing equipment, raw materials and other factory property, disrupting operations at the plant.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Head of Media and Publicity of the Anambra State Fire Service, Chukwudi Chiketa, said the agency received a distress call at 4:12 p.m. and immediately deployed firefighters to the scene.
He said the crew arrived at 4:40 p.m., contained the blaze and concluded the operation at about 6:50 p.m.
Chiketa said preliminary findings showed the fire was caused by a faulty factory machine.
He urged factory operators to carry out routine maintenance of equipment and electrical installations while strictly observing fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
