Fave Claims Birthday Show Blocked During Ramadan Period

Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, widely recognized as Fave, has expressed frustration over what she claims is a new restriction barring artistes from hosting shows in Nigeria during the Islamic Ramadan period.

The singer explained that her plan to celebrate her birthday on the 13th of March with a live performance in Nigeria has faced obstacles, as music events are reportedly being discouraged during Ramadan.

Taking to her X handle, Fave shared her confusion: “So I was tryna do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused.”

In a follow-up post, the singer disclosed that multiple promoters have declined her requests to host the event, citing its overlap with the Ramadan period.

She emphasized that the religious observance should not impact her career or business, highlighting that she is a Christian and only became aware of Ramadan practices in her late teens.

Fave wrote, “I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste and back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing.

“I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy.”
