Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has projected that President Bola Tinubu will secure more than 12 million votes in the 2027 presidential election.
Fayose made the prediction on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he also argued that opposition figures Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would be unable to defeat Tinubu, even if they decide to contest the election together.
“It’s a three-way horse; maybe I am not putting it right. Atiku is there, and Obi is there. Even if they come together, this man (Tinubu) will still defeat them. But let us say they don’t come together; too bad for them because this election will be balkanised,” Fayose said.
The former governor said Tinubu could secure a substantial margin in the South-West, while questioning the opposition candidates’ ability to attract significant support in the region.
“South-west will come up with not less than six million differences; I’m telling you, between five to six million. Write it down. Other five million, who would vote for Obi or Atiku in Ekiti? Who would vote for them in Osun? Who would vote for them in Ondo? What is their structure?

“This politics is not a tea party. Asiwaju will have over 12 million votes. To rig the election now is very difficult. Very, very difficult.”
Fayose’s comments came shortly after the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council projected a strong performance for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Ima Niboro, spokesperson for the APC campaign council, had said during an interview on Arise TV on Monday that the party’s membership base and its assessment of Tinubu’s administration would form part of its case for a second term.
Niboro, a former media adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, claimed that the APC currently has 12.8 million registered members, which he described as a significant electoral base ahead of the election.
He also said the figure exceeds the membership of several opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Niboro, Tinubu’s administration has also recorded what he described as significant progress since taking office in 2023, an argument he said would support the president’s bid for another term.
