FBI Releases Photos of Person of Interest in Charlie Kirk Shooting

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released surveillance photographs of a man it describes as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

The images, shared on the FBI Salt Lake City office’s official X account on Thursday, show a slim male wearing a baseball cap, dark sunglasses, and casual clothing. Officials are asking members of the public to help identify him and to submit any tips or digital media through the bureau’s hotline or online portal.

Investigators say a bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the attack was recovered in a wooded area near the university campus.

Alongside the weapon, forensic teams collected footwear impressions, a palm print, and forearm markings on a rooftop where the shooter allegedly positioned himself. All items are undergoing analysis at the FBI laboratory.

Authorities revealed that inscriptions with transgender and anti-fascist references were found on the ammunition linked to the rifle. While investigators have not confirmed a motive, they said all possible angles are being examined.

More than 100 tips have already been submitted by the public. Two individuals earlier detained for questioning were later released, though one faces an obstruction charge tied to the investigation.

The FBI has also announced a $100,000 reward for credible information leading to the identification and arrest of the shooter.

Kirk, founder of the conservative youth movement Turning Point USA, was shot dead while addressing an outdoor gathering at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. His killing has sparked sharp political reactions and renewed concerns over violence at public events.

Authorities urged calm as the search continues.

“We are following every lead and leaving no stone unturned,” the FBI stated, while stressing that the man in the released photos remains a person of interest and not yet a confirmed suspect.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or upload material directly to the bureau’s digital evidence portal.
