FCTA Dismisses Claims Of Court Order On Environmental Enforcement Activities

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports claiming that a court order halted sittings on environmental services and food safety enforcement activities in the territory.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the FCTA Public Health Department, through its Legal Officer at the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Idris Suleiman, described the circulating report as inaccurate and misleading.

The department said the alleged court order was “false in its entirety and completely misinterpreted”.

It clarified that the order was issued by Justice Yusuf Halilu of the FCT High Court in Motion No. M/7935/2026.

According to the clarification, the case filed by H-Medix Pharmacy Limited against the FCTA Health and Human Services Secretariat and six others only restricted further sittings in matters involving the applicant.

“The ruling did not suspend or halt the overall enforcement activities of the Public Health Department”.

The FCTA urged residents and business owners to disregard claims suggesting a blanket suspension of environmental health enforcement and food safety court sittings in the FCT.

“The department remains committed to ensuring public safety by upholding the highest environmental and public health standards and ensuring compliance with these standards,” the statement said.

It added that its offices remain fully operational and that court sittings for the prosecution of defaulters are still ongoing.
