FG Arraigns Three In Oyo School Kidnap Case

The Federal Government has brought a 10-count charge against three men in connection with the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The case, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, names the defendants as Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa and Shamsu Adamu Sani.

According to the charge, the three are facing allegations bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement and illegal mining.

The prosecution identified Umar by the aliases Abu Khalifa and Abu Khalid, Musa as Yunusa bin Musa, and Sani as Abu Itisar. All three defendants are said to be natives of Suleja Local Government Area in Niger State.

Court documents allege that between January and May, the defendants conspired with Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab to orchestrate the kidnapping of the schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State.

The Federal Government further alleged that the conspiracy violated Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The defendants are also accused of facilitating the abduction and withholding information about the identities and activities of the alleged masterminds despite allegedly having prior knowledge of the plot.
