FG Launches Portal for Youth Confab as 36,000 Delegates Expected

The Federal Government has officially launched the registration portal for the highly anticipated 2025 National Youth Conference, setting the stage for a large-scale gathering of young Nigerians from all 360 federal constituencies.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, announced that registration for the youth-focused event—dubbed the “Youth Confab”—will close on June 30.

Themed “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” the conference is expected to convene 36,000 delegates and will serve as a platform for young Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to national development conversations.

“This is more than a conference,” Olawande declared. “It is a national movement, a generational turning point. It’s a platform for us to listen, learn, and lead together.”

According to the minister, the initiative stems from President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to youth inclusion, following his inauguration of the national planning committee on March 10.

He added that the confab will prioritize actionable outcomes over empty rhetoric.

“This will not be another talk shop. The 2025 Youth Confab is designed to generate real solutions through inclusive, youth-led dialogue,” he said.

Participants will engage in a hybrid process: beginning with virtual consultations and policy submission through the portal, followed by a rigorous selection process to determine those invited for the in-person sessions.

Chairman of the national planning committee, Olubunmi Olusanya, emphasized the importance of the conference in shaping national policy.

“This is a structured avenue for young people to directly influence governance,” Olusanya said. “Discussions will focus on critical issues like unemployment, political representation, education, and healthcare.”

He added that the official portal launch marks the beginning of what he described as a historic journey.

“The youth confab inspires hope. It’s an opportunity for young Nigerians to shift from protest to policy, and from obstacles to opportunities,” Olusanya stated.

Prospective participants are urged to complete their registration on the official website and engage in the virtual dialogue phase before June 30.
