The Federal Government on Wednesday presented alleged radio broadcasts and videos made by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as evidence to substantiate terrorism charges against him.
The exhibits, played in open court before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, included recordings from the controversial “Radio Biafra,” which were tendered through the second prosecution witness (PW-2), identified as BBB. The witness testified behind a screen provided by the court to protect their identity.
Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, lead counsel for the prosecution, led BBB in evidence. The witness confirmed that Kanu admitted to making the broadcasts and videos.
One of the recordings, a live broadcast aired on October 20, 2020, during the #EndSARS protests was played in court. In the broadcast, Kanu was allegedly heard urging youths to attack police officers and soldiers, seize their weapons, and kill them.

The prosecution argued that the broadcast was a call to violence against security personnel, constituting a significant part of the terrorism charges leveled against Kanu.
Kanu, who is facing multiple charges related to treasonable felony and terrorism, has maintained his innocence, alleging that the broadcasts were taken out of context and that his statements were misinterpreted.
The court adjourned the matter for further hearing as the prosecution continues to present evidence against the IPOB leader.
