FG Supports Ogun Agripreneurs with ₦18.5m Startup Fund

The Federal Government has released ₦18.5 million to 37 young agripreneurs in Ogun State to help them set up agribusiness ventures, with each graduate receiving ₦500,000 in seed capital.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, by Dr. Adedeji Ashiru, Managing Director of the Ogun–Oshun River Basin Development Authority (O-ORBDA), during the graduation ceremony of the 2024/2025 Graduate Youth Empowerment Programme (GYEP) held in Abeokuta.

Ashiru explained that the intervention is designed to tackle youth unemployment while strengthening food production and security.

He said the initiative is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s agricultural agenda, which seeks to make farming a more attractive and viable option for young Nigerians.

One of the recipients, Olalekan Daniel, described the scheme as a life-changing opportunity, noting that it has provided him with the skills and capital needed to contribute to national food supply.

Since its establishment, the GYEP has produced over 200 graduates, many of whom are now running sustainable agricultural businesses.

The seed grant, officials said, is aimed at ensuring that participants are able to translate their training into immediate, practical ventures.
