FG Temporarily Shut Down Recruitment Portal for Nigeria’s Paramilitary Service

Amid a surge of eager applicants vying for positions in Nigeria’s paramilitary services, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has hit the pause button.

In a statement issued Wednesday by the Board’s Secretary, Maj. Gen. A.M. Jibril (retd.), the recruitment portal has been temporarily suspended.

According to Jibril, the move is aimed at enhancing system performance and ensuring the application process remains transparent and hitch-free.

“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” said Jibril.

The recruitment exercise, which officially kicked off on June 30, 2025, has seen an overwhelming number of entries, overwhelming the digital infrastructure in place.

Agencies affected include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The portal is now expected to reopen on Monday, July 21, 2025. Until then, hopeful applicants have been advised to remain patient and watch for updates.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies,” the Board’s statement noted.

“We remain committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.”

The announcement has sparked mixed reactions among job seekers, many of whom have been racing against the clock to submit their credentials.

Still, officials say the temporary suspension is a necessary trade-off to guarantee long-term efficiency and fairness in the hiring process.

For now, applicants are urged to prepare their documents and keep close tabs on the portal to avoid missing out when it reopens.
