Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers lost in their second round of qualifying game for the 2023 FIBA World Cup to Cote d’Ivoire on Friday.
D’Tigers lost 78-66 to Cote d’Ivoire who have gone unbeaten in the qualifying series as their chance of qualifying gets slimmer.
The game which took place at the Palais des Sports dé Treichville in Abidjan had D’Tigers struggle against the Ivorians.
The first quarter ended 14-14 but Côte d’Ivoire took the second quarter 28-22 going to the halftime break with a five-point lead.
Côte d’Ivoire also won the third quarter 18-16 stretching their lead with the fourth quarter ending 18-14.
To add a slight chance to their qualification, D’Tigers will now play a must-win game against Guinea also Abidjan on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
