Fifth Anniversary: First News Set to Rebrand as First Daily

Ahead of its fifth anniversary, the Board and Management of First Media Network Limited, publishers of First News, have announced plans to carry out a seismic shift on its daily publication, as part of measures to reposition the brand.

To this end, the organization says First News would henceforth be known as First Daily but will retain its high quality and standard with more engaging content.

According to a statement released on Monday by its publisher, Dr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the strategic decision which was unanimously approved by the board, “is driven by the need to establish a distinct and unmistakable identity, especially in light of the proliferation of similarly named news platforms.”

The statement said: “Over the past five years, First News has earned the confidence and trust of a broad readership across Nigeria and beyond. In recognition of this achievement and in alignment with our vision for the future, we have chosen our fifth anniversary as the ideal occasion to unveil our new identity.

“The official unveiling of First Daily will take place during our Annual Lecture Series and Fifth Anniversary Celebration scheduled for the last quarter of the year in Abuja. This milestone event will serve as both a celebration of our journey thus far and a launchpad into a new era of expanded reach, deeper engagement, and greater editorial excellence.

“With First Daily, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to factual, authentic, and credible journalism. Our readers can continue to rely on us for timely and accurate reporting across a broad spectrum of sectors, including politics, business, education, sports, health, entertainment, and more.”

The statement added: “As we prepare to celebrate our fifth anniversary in Abuja sometime in November, one of the major highlights will be the official unveiling of First Daily, which replaces First News. A detailed programme of events will soon be made public.

“We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished over the last five years—despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country—and we remain optimistic about the future. With First Daily, we look forward to even greater impact, growth, and service to our readers.”

The management of the news outfit while commending its loyal readers, subscribers and commercial clients urged the public to look out for the all-important fifth anniversary event which will parade intellectually mobile resource persons to critically examine some of the current challenges confronting Nigeria.

“We thank our loyal readers, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support and invite the general public to join us in celebrating this significant milestone.”
